FARMERS PROJECT

About Project

Technical Support for Farmers: Accelerating Agricultural Improvement for Sustainability and Reducing Earthquake Effects Project (FARMERS Project) is a technical assistance project implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry with EU co-financing. The project aims to accelerate comprehensive, sustainable and inclusive recovery of the agricultural sector in Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya following the earthquakes of 6 February 2023 that caused severe damage in south-eastern Türkiye; to strengthen resilience against future disasters, reinforce local livelihoods and improve food security.

The FARMERS Project is built on two specific objectives:

  • To increase the resilience of the agricultural ecosystem and to promote climate- and disaster-resilient sustainable agricultural practices and improve agricultural value chains;
  • To support the agricultural labour market by providing training and employment opportunities for vulnerable groups such as women, young people, seasonal workers and persons with disabilities.
FARMERS Projesi

Within the scope of the project, trainings, on-farm internships, mentoring programmes, digital resources, sectoral meetings and communication campaigns are organised for farmers. The project aims both to revive agricultural production and to build an agricultural sector aligned with the principles of green transition, digitalisation and social inclusion.

The FARMERS Project is not only a recovery process; it is a strategic transformation project that lays the foundations for a vision of disaster-resilient, fair and sustainable rural development.
