About Project

Technical Support for Farmers: Accelerating Agricultural Improvement for Sustainability and Reducing Earthquake Effects Project (FARMERS Project) is a technical assistance project implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry with EU co-financing. It aims to revive agricultural production, promote sustainability and provide inclusive support to vulnerable groups in the provinces of Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya affected by the February 2023 earthquakes.

Component A – Capacity Development for Farmers, Cooperative Members/Staff, SMEs and Public/Civil Institutions in Agriculture and Agro-based Production Sectors

Mentoring Campaign

Three-day awareness-raising workshops on production planning, marketing, supply chain and financial management.

Networking Campaign

Two-day meetings aiming to build new business links between farmers, cooperatives, SMEs and retail, e-commerce and export companies.

Training on Resilient and Ecological Agricultural Practices

Three-day awareness-raising workshops on sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, livestock and agro-processing.

Handbook for Farmers

A comprehensive digital handbook, printed summary and topic-specific brochures to guide sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices.

Sectoral Meetings

Meetings bringing together public, private sector and civil society stakeholders to address good practices, sectoral issues and sustainability strategies.

Component B – Gaining Experience and Creating Employment

Labour Support Programme

In the agriculture and agri-food sectors, a total of 400 workers will be employed for six months in five provinces over two years, with wages and social security contributions covered by the project.

Internship Programme

A total of 200 young people wishing to gain experience in agriculture, livestock and agro-processing will be offered one-month internships in five provinces over two years, with internship and social security costs covered by the project.
